Book Clubs and Reading

Reading is a favorite past time among HCCA teachers and students. We encourage all ages to take the opportunity to attend Storytime and ReadingTime events at locations all over Madison County, inside and outside of school hours.

There are numerous opportunities around town for children to practice their reading skills and listen to animated storytellers read to them.

Book Clubs. Book Clubs encourage reading outside of school and make available for purchase, materials of interest to the student.

Scholastic Book Fairs. Entertaining and educational, scholastic book fairs draw students in as well as replenish or replace school libraries and classroom resources. Summer Reading Program. The following resources are available for pre-K and Kindergarten students:

• Toddler Storytimes - Every Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. – 9:50 a.m. & Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. at Madison Branch
• Miss Lexie's Tremendous Toddlers – Every Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 at Main Branch
• Miss Amy's Tuesday Tales – Every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Eleanor Murphy Branch
• Wiggles & Walking for infants – Every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Main Branch
• Mother Goose Storytime – Wednesdays 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. & Thursdays 9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. at Bailey Cove Branch

• Spellbinders Halloween Stories & Tales - Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Main Branch. Featuring master storytellers Bruce Walker, Joe Berry, Roy Logston, & Sara McDaris, who dish up shivers & spooks with ghost stories, witch tales, & other great fall stories. Appropriate for ages 8 through adult.
• Storytime Halloween Bash – Friday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Hazel Green Branch

Madison Public Library:

• Seuss Storytime - Read Across America. March 2 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books!
